Oral Cancer Screening is Important

by Derek Taylor on April 5, 2013

Oral Cancer Screening is Important!

April is National Oral Cancer Awareness Month and you are encouraged to schedule your oral cancer screening if you are at risk. The risk factors include frequent alcohol consumption, tobacco use, and being African American. If you are male, experience prolonged exposure to sunlight by working outdoors a lot, are infected with the sexually transmitted HPV virus, are above the age of 35, and consume  a diet low in fruits and vegetables, you are also more at risk.

Oral Cancer Screening is a Must if you have these symptoms

  • Red and/or white patches in the mouth
  • Any sore that doesn’t heal within 14 days
  • Persistent Hoarseness
  • Feeling like something is caught in the throat
  • Difficulty moving the jaw or tongue
  • A lump or thickening in the mouth or on the neck
  • Ear pain on one side only
  • A sore under a denture that doesn’t heal

Download our flyer with more information here. Call us today at 918-299-2400 to schedule your oral cancer screening and ask us how you can get $10 off.
